Theatre on the Isle is pleased to announce two performances of the award winning play "Tuesdays with Morrie" based on the book by Mitch Albom. Bowen performances will be on September 17th and 18th at 7:30 at Cates Hill Chapel. "Tuesdays with Morrie" the play, co-authored by Albom and Jeffrey Hatcher, is based on the very popular autobiographical book of the same name in which a young man visits with his dying professor. At each of these Tuesday visits, Morrie reveals more and more of the ideas and thoughts that have been central to his life, while Mitch learns about living from a dying man. The visits between student and professor, between young and old are a deeply moving account of wisdom and courage as Morrie's understanding of life is clearly shown.
"Tuesdays with Morrie" is a two person show and will be performed by Gabriola Island's No Bell and Whistles Theatre Company. Bowen is extremely lucky to have this performance brought to us as the part of Morrie will be played by Antony Holland who for years has been an outstanding figure in western Canadian theatre. At the age of 90...yes 90!... Holland is a wonderful actor with a resume that extends back to 1940 both as actor, director and teacher. He was at the beginning of Bristol's Old Vic theatre started by Laurence Olivier in 1946, as well as being teacher and mentor to many of today's top actors at Langara University's Studio 58.
This will be a show not to be missed for both content as well as 70 years of experience on the stage.
No ferry, no water taxi, no parking hassles. World class theatre brought to your door. Tickets are $20 and are available at Phoenix. |
