G. How do I add videos?

  1. Log into your account.
  2. Add the video application (see “What are Applications?”).
  3. Click on ‘Add Video’.
  4. 4) Decide whether to add a URL (such as from YouTube) or to upload a video. YouTube videos will appear on the videos page just like the other videos. If for any reason you can’t upload a video to Dreaming Island, try uploading it to YouTube and then use the URL option.
  5. Fast Method: To add a YouTube video (or one on any other listed service)
    1. Under ‘Link Video’ click ‘Next’
    2. Go to the YouTube page on which your video is playing. Copy the URL as it appears in the browser’s address bar.
    3. Paste the address in the ‘Video URL’ box
    4. Privacy. You can choose from:
      1. Public – this is the preferred selection, because the site is mostly for the broad public, not just registered users.
      2. Site Members
      3. Friends
      4. Only me
    5. Click ‘Upload Video’
    6. Click ‘Link Video’
  6. Slow Method: To upload a video
    1. Under ‘Upload Video’, click ‘Next’
    2. Click ‘Browse’ to find the video on your computer. It must be under 40MB in file size. The videos on this site are 400px x 300px in area.
    3. Type in a title
    4. Type in a short description, indicating your role in the video production (i.e. director, actor, lighting, sound, auteur...)
    5. Give it a category – this is an important way for people to find your work.
    6. Privacy. You can choose from:
      1. Public – this is the preferred selection, because the site is mostly for the broad public, not just registered users.
      2. Site Members
      3. Friends
      4. Only me
    7. Click ‘Upload Video’
    8. Leave the window open until you see a confirmation that the video has been uploaded.
    9. Check the site about an hour later – videos are processed regularly.
