Dreaming Island is a new website featuring space for an island-wide online gallery of the arts on Bowen Island. And it's free.

Whether you’re professional, aspiring or casual with your work, here’s an opportunity to show some of your finest stuff. You can display your best paintings, photography, video clips, performances, writing, shots of your cabinetmaking... the arts are defined in their broadest sense.

Surprise and be surprised by your neighbors. Bowen is among the most creative communities in Canada – let’s see what that looks like.

Dreaming Island will feature:

• Arts pages linking to portfolios by general category
• People pages linking to the profiles of the participants and to their own websites
• Bowen Today: excerpts from the latest new content, weather info, the events calendar, ads and more
• Bowen Blogs: links to the latest postings by Bowen bloggers
• Bowen Radio: listen to island musicians while you surf
• For participants, a behind-the-scenes online community, where you can create groups, discuss ideas, and edit your own content

Dreaming Island is a project by John Dowler of Cosmic Idea Web & Print Design. Participation in 2010 is free – and if possible free or low cost from then on.

To prepare, just put together a bio, artist statement and content in a computer format such as text, jpeg images, quicktime/.wmv videos and audio mp3s. You’ll be able to create your own account and upload your stuff. You can also edit your content any time. Videos will show how the process works.
